It is an orientation prior to the consultation, and it does not replace it. Your answers stay in your browser.
It helps to answer with your report at hand, if you have it.
Do you have a biopsy of the nodule?
This is an orientation, not a diagnosis. Your answers are not stored or sent: everything happens in your browser. This treatment suits some nodules, not every one.
There are established criteria, and they are what we will assess with you at your first consultation.
Probably yes, if
a biopsy confirmed the nodule is benign and, in addition,
- it measures more than two centimeters
- it causes discomfort when swallowing or speaking
- it is visible on your neck, and that affects you
- it has grown on follow-up scans
Probably not, if
- the ultrasound shows high-risk features
- the nodule is mostly fluid, because then the first option is a different, simpler technique
If you have a cancer diagnosis
In a very small papillary carcinoma with no nodes, the guidelines contemplate ablation in selected patients. If the cancer is larger than one centimeter or has spread, surgery is what is indicated, and Dr. Jacobo performs it himself.

What people who answer the questionnaire ask.
We say so clearly and explain the options you do have. Dr. Jacobo also operates on the thyroid, so the same doctor stays with you.
For benign nodules, confirmed by biopsy, that measure more than two centimeters, cause symptoms, show or have grown. In a very small papillary carcinoma without lymph nodes, the guidelines also contemplate ablation in selected patients. If the cancer is larger than one centimeter or has spread, surgery is what is indicated.
Yes. Most likely the result will point to further study being needed, and at the evaluation we explain what is missing, sometimes only a second puncture. One benign biopsy is enough when the ultrasound also classifies the nodule as benign (TIRADS 2), and otherwise two concordant results are needed.
The ultrasound and the biopsy if you already had them, and the thyroid labs. If none of those studies has been done yet, the evaluation begins precisely with them.
No. Everything happens in your browser; nothing is sent or stored. Only the fact that the questionnaire was completed, and with which result, is recorded anonymously, not what was marked.
With your result, these are the paths.
- Probably yesHow ablation works, with numbers. What to expect, according to published series, and what it costs.
- Needs studyHow the biopsy is performed and what it means.Fifteen minutes at the office, and the result comes in one or two weeks.
- Probably notWhen the nodule is cancer: diagnosis and treatment. The surgery is performed by a surgical oncologist.
The result is confirmed at the consultation, with your studies.
The evaluation tells you what is missing, whether to treat or monitor it, and gives you the cost in writing. In person at three centers or virtual from wherever you are.
